Good Guys 14th Southwest Nationals, Scottsdale Nov 2011

Keith Charvonia's '51 Kaiser Drag'n
There was a huge showing for this 14th Southwest Nationals held in Scottsdale. The above work of Keith Charvonia rolled in on Saturday (at leat that's when I first saw it) and had a crowd admiring it all day long. Between the all the admirers, the Sun, the shifting clouds and the reflections from all-- a good shot of this amazing custom was a challenge... when I finally had a chance to shoot it. The true look of this gorgeous Gene Winfield fade-paint job was difficult to capture. I'd love another chance at it in a controlled environment. But enough excuses, there's more photos at the end of this post. Check out my sampling of the show.

Custom rust at the swapmeet.

Dad smiling proud.

Above an extreme rat rod and below a perfected custom. One I'd be afraid to scratch myself on, the other I'd be afraid I'd scratch. Two schools of thought and both head turners.
Keith Charvonia did the metal work on this himself. This beauty is going to be a feature in Rodder's Journal. Looking forward to seeing it. Congrats, Keith!
This ride is going to kill when it hit's the show circuit!

That's it. It was a great weekend hanging with car guys. Until the Spring show in March...

1 Year Anniversary....Garrettero

I've been at the Good Guys Show in Scottsdale all weekend and will have a few photos soon. But just today (Saturday 11//19/2011), on the 1 year anniversary of this humble little site, I was featured on the very cool Car Kulture site, 53 Deluxe. This tops off a great year....check out the site, and my feature:

Cheers!

2ND ANNUAL BLESSING OF THE RODS / HOT ROD & CUSTOM CAR SHOW

The Hell City Saints Car Club (Phoenix) DO IT AGAIN!!!!

The much aniticipated 'Blessing 2 show delivered in every aspect of any good hot rod party/show. CARS...as you will see there were plenty of bad-ass rides; BEER & FOOD...PBR tallboys on the cheap and I heard the burritos were killer; MUSIC...Good DJs and great bands played continuously all day and night; A KOOL CROWD...the atmosphere was one of camaraderie; I counted at least six clubs present. It was a like-minded crowd celebrating their scene and people new to it certainly walked away with an appreciation of the Valley's car kulture.
I arrived just around the start time. I wanted photograph the cars before light faded...get it done...and get to the business of drinking and hanging out with friends.

Here are three of the cars you'll see out at the Nostalgia Drags this Sunday (Nov 13th). Going? See ya there.

There was a pin-up pageant, car awards and of the course the Blessing of the Rods --- unfortunately I couldn't be at all places at once...but every where I went I found friends, made new ones and had a great time.
Thanks 'Saints for a killer show!
