Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion 2012!!

The beautiful, Jade.
In it's fourth year the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion (LHRR) has definitely established itself as the biggest of it's kind in Arizona (this may have been the case last year...but I didn't go, now I can confirm it:)
I can't estimate numbers, but the second day, Saturday, had a huge turnout. As stated in the title, there was Rockabilly and plenty of it --- the bands kicked ass. There were more pretty pin-ups than I have ever seen in one place, I'm guessing around 30 that day...and you couldn't throw an empty PBR can without hitting a cool kulture vendor....not that I tried.
The one thing there could have been a lot more of....traditional rods & customs. This isn't a complaint, just a yearning a few of us had discussed while walking the car show area. All in all, the LHRR delivered and I'm looking forward to attending the whole 3 day event next year.
Here's some of what I saw.....

This Galaxy won the award below and was a standout at the car show.

The lovely Karina. A school teacher who was competing in the pageant with one of her students.

Here's Jason Lawson's wicked '57. This is how the Usuals Social Club C.C. rolls. Unfortunately (on many levels) a Camero parked up against it before I could get a side shot. But this car was photographed in my December Mooneyes coverage.

Chris Sneed was happily striping at the show.

Here's our "Reunion" part of the show. We got to hang out with our So Cal club amigos. The hang-time with clubs is the best part of any show, and the conversations always get to the planning of meeting again at the next one.

The beautiful, Coco...I had to go all the way to Havasu to meet a Chandler neighbor.

"Fishnets" my buddy from the Tempe Rockabilly Reunion....she won the Psychobilly pageant again in Havasu.

Jade, letting her 'stockin's do the talkin'....
On the right, Rafael with the band "Moonlight Howlers" rocked the place on Friday, then headed out on their European tour Monday.

Immortal Bastard at the wheel.

Pinup beauties!

Every where...pretty ladies.
The Rhythm Dragons always deliver. Great set!!

The lovely hostesses of the LHRR: Kim Falcon, KandyK Modela, Carly Deville & Maybell Lee
The "Booze Bombs" are a great band from Germany. Check them out.
A Hudson, checking out a Hudson.

The lovely, Stephanie

I do not recall this beauty's name -- but what a sweetheart.

"Voodoo Swing" rocked the hell out of the place!

The crowd was pumped!!
What a performance!!!
Chelsea the pinup taking shots of her Voodoo man, Wes, on bass (below)
Bindi Baby on stage with Voodoo Swing...what a voice!
Oh Maybelle!

Coco behind the wheel...hope to see her at a local show soon.

Sun setting on Lake Havasu just feet from the stage.
Well there's the quick wrap-up. Our Saturday turn-around trip from Phoenix to Lake Havasu was well worth it. I missed portions of the show due to the distance of the car-show area from the action taking place by the stage...unfortunately one can't simultaneously enjoy both and this is typical of most shows of this magnitude.
We headed out around 6:30 to grab some dinner and head back to Phoenix ---it was hard to leave knowing the Chop Tops were still going to play and the event hadn't run out of beer yet...
Looking forward to hearing promoter Kennie Cupetelli's plans for the Tempe Reunion coming up toward the end of the year.
See you the whole three days of the next Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion next February!

Tony's Brush Bash 2012

See 3 photos below for a truer colors.

I heard about this great event from Jowee "Rhythm" Ramirez a killer pinstriper who cruises with The Usuals Social Club (a very social car club) of Southern California. A buddy and I were pressed for time, but we were able to spend a couple hours at Tony's Brush Bash out in Peoria, AZ.
It was hard to leave.
Art was "happening" rapidly and everywhere...metal panels, vinyl (as in record albums), paint boxes, purses, boards, high heels, cars, motorcycles and...flesh... were some of the canvases for these amazing artists.
The amazing duo of D.A. Designs and Jowee "Rhythm" Ramirez from CA.
D.A.'s '54 (left) will be striped by two more stripers before it's done. Then to the right is a better representation of Mr Rhythm's senorita-pinup & '54. The opening shot up top doesn't quite show these vibrant colors.
Ron Hernandez, D.A. & Eddie Torres
Panels were being passed around between stripers all applying their unique skills contributing to the whole. Here's D.A.'s finished piece with the help of a couple brothers-in-paint.
Ron Hernandez' cool box.

Models went from striper to striper as well. Here Eddie Torres lightly presses and colorfully caresses beauty on beauty.
Dig, Eddie Torres' killer panel!

This bike is getting double teamed by Chris Sneed of "Pinstriping by Chris" and Jeff Isbell-"Kong's Pinstriping".

Puro So Cal Line Lowco

It was a pleasure meeting, Moises. I love this guys work. I first knew of him via the "Calle 16" mural project in Phoenix. Check his work out at MOISES
Pretty ladies getting prettier courtesy of Moises.

Chris of "Pinstriping by Chris" dedicated to his art....
One of a handful of cars. It's hard to beat lowriders in the paint department.

My man, Anthony Parra of "Pinstriping by Ant-T" Local artist and bad-ass.

Robert, from "Papi's Airbrushing" applied designs to all the models. He seems to enjoy his work too.

D.A. and Mr Rhythm working the same piece at different stages.
The final results ---- A "So Cal Line Lowcos" masterpiece!

I wish I could have stayed longer at the show. I got caught up in watching a few guys and didn't have time to meet them all and take more photos. There were a few panels I really wanted to see reach completion as well as the final line-up of painted ladies...and I never got to me the guy behind the the show, Tony. Next year I'll know it's coming and plan to make a day of it rather than just a couple hours and if you're in town ---you should too! I'll try and post next year's event info here.

I want to thank Jowee "Rhythm" Ramirez for the heads up on the show and Anthony "An-T" Parra for this bad-ass custom quickie he garaciously whipped up for me while I was there.

All the guys here are on Facebook and if you need more info you can shoot me an email.
See you at the next one.
